Alba Garcia, Makeup Artist & Eyebrow Artist

Vucetaj, who has groomed the iconic eyebrows of celebs like Sarah Jessica Parker and Rihanna, immediately noticed that my brows were not living up to their fullest, fluffiest potential. Secondly, particularly when it comes to the removing-the-excess-hairs part, go slowly. It's much easier to go back in and remove more than regrow new hair, especially as we get older.

You'll Need These for Shaping Your Brows

A close cousin of the "arch toward the tail," a tapered brow's inner two thirds is noticeably thicker than the ends. If you love this look but your brows are the same width throughout, keep in mind that it will require much more maintenance, including regular face waxing. If your brow doesn't have a natural arch, there's no need to create one. As you can see, straight brows can look amazing at any width. Keeping them brushed with a spoolie like E.L.F. Cosmetics Eyebrow Duo Brush is a must for a polished look.

Step 3: Fill Your Brows

With the help of eyebrow and makeup artists, we've rounded up eight of 2022's biggest eyebrow trends that, thankfully, will save you from endless hours of unnecessary plucking and scrolling for more tutorials. My Name is Amber Gude, I am a cosmetic tattoo artist with 5 years of experience. Currently focusing on machine work including nano machine hair strokes , powder brows, and nano combo brows.

WATCH: Why You Should Consider Threading to Shape Your Brows

"This allows you to fill in the brow with hair-like strokes for a subtle look or you can fill in more fully in the areas where you don't have as much hair." Julianna has become one of the nation’s most widely respected Microblading and Permanent Makeup artists and instructors. Known for her cutting-edge artistry and one-of-a-kind technique, Julianna Milin continues to set the bar within the Microblading and PMU realm of the beauty industry. Julianna Milin is a leading International Master of Microblading and Permanent Makeup techniques.

Brow Lamination

The talented Brow Artists at The Brow Studio will create your most beautiful brow. The Brow Studio does not create a “signature brow.” Instead, we provide sophisticated analysis of each client’s face, creating a tailor-made brow – your signature brow. No call no shows with zero communication will be charged 100% of the service fee due.

"For an angled face, you want a rounder, fluffy brow to soften the look," Baker explains. Some celebrities, like Baker's client actress Lea Michele, prefer an extra high arch well above the brow bone, which creates an extra defined and lifted look. If you want this dramatic style, an arch toward the tail — not the center — is a must. A recent winner of our Best of Beauty Awards, we'd definitely recommend Benefit Cosmetics's Powmade Brow Pomade. The tinted formula will provide the right amount of product to avoid overdrawing any lines for the brow shape you're trying to achieve.

And it helps prevent major errors, adds New York City brow expert Azi Sacks, such as a brow getting too thin or an arch being pushed too far inwards. Masu says the biggest benefit to eyebrow mapping—and the string brow mapping method in particular—is that clients can see their natural asymmetry more easily. “This helps them see the work that needs to be done to achieve more symmetry and harmony.

She has been featured in national publications, on TV, and has presented her technique at International Forums and Conferences. Combine a clear eyebrow gel with an eyeshadow that has lots of pigment (Garcia recs the Eye Kits from Pat McGrath Labs). And BTW, if you apply the color after bleaching, it’ll be even more visible, according to Garcia. For shimmery, glossy brows, she recommends applying Chanel’s Baume Essentiel, a multi-use glow stick. Garcia thinks this one is an upcoming trend—anything from pink or blue brows to shimmery brows.

You're going for symmetry but think of them as sisters, not twins. The hair in each brow can ultimately grow slightly differently, and one can even have a cowlick while another might not, points out Sacks. Work with the brows you have, and don't get super hung up on making each and every little hair look identical. If you have alopecia or have gone through chemotherapy, microblading is a great, semi-permanent natural-looking option to fill in any sparse areas of the brow. Sometimes, a softly rounded shape can be the most flattering option, especially if the rest of your face has sharper features.

According to Julianna Milin, your mission is accomplished when you have given a client something extraordinary that they never imagined would become a reality…such as a custom authentic new pair of eyebrows! Julianna Milin describes her work as the product of “what should have been”. She applies this theory as the foundation of her practice and has never failed to consistently deliver an end-result that perfectly mirror’s the client’s absolute vision of their best self. If expert predictions and 2022 runway shows are anything to go by, however, word has been made to dial things back and stick to the basics this year.

"Bleached brows were super popular then, so all signs point to them being super popular again [in 2022]." Below, you can learn exactly how to get your dream brows at home whether your eyebrows are a bit sparse due to over-plucking, or you need to do some strategic weed-whacking to find your best eyebrow shape again. Brows are the first thing people will notice about your face, even if it’s subconsciously. The Brow Studio staff understand the importance of the eyebrow.

“You can learn the technique in the DIY scene if you sift through the many ratios of mapping to find the right one,” says Wright. And, an at-home wax job is rarely going to replicate the quality results you’ll get from a professional artist who can wax or microblade your brows with the best tools, techniques, and experience. There is no aftercare with the eyebrow mapping process itself. “You will be asked to maintain the shape either through tweezing or threading afterward,” says Masu. But, if you get microbladed, Lovello says that you might not want to plan anything for a few days afterward because your brows will darken and scab over. Wright adds that if you got waxed or otherwise have pain and irritation, applying some organic aloe can help.

During the pandemic, many people had time to themselves to play, she explains. So, the idea of bold, colored brows might just feel right. Keep in mind, though, that brow care is an important part of the process, per Garcia. You want to make sure your eyebrows are in good shape before you put chemicals on them, she says—especially because they’re pretty sensitive. Both Garcia and Beeler have noted this trend, which, Garcia says, is basically a brow perm. Not everyone can achieve a fluffy brow look due to the way their eyebrow hair grows, she explains.

Maybe I’m not quite at Megan Fox level, but hey, I feel pretty darn close. For a sculpted tail end on the brow, sometimes a little bit of assistance will be necessary. "To achieve this look, brow lamination is a top service in the salon and products like brow gels, brow glues, and waxes are a top trending styling go-to," he says. Brow Naturale Brow Lamination To Go, a product of Garza's own creation, is a prime example. "You can achieve the look by concealing the little fluffy hairs at the tail end," Garza previously recommended to Allure. Medhin recommends a few different products to achieve the right eyebrow shape for the feathered trend, but thankfully, you'll rely mostly on a regular spooley brush and maybe some gel.

If you have any questions, or for a free virtual consultation, please email and I will get back to you within hours! All that's left to do is tweeze any brow hairs that fall outside the lines to help create symmetry and tidy up your brows. Brow mapping at SIX+AIT is not a standalone service, so it isn't cheap. A session of eyebrow mapping and microblading with Peaches will run you $1000, while a session with her colleagues is anywhere from $650 to $900. Your first touchup, which is recommended within the first six months, is $300.

Sacks recommends doing what's called a "brow layout" to achieve this look if you're already working with a lot of God-given brow hair. "Hand-pluck coarse texture-out of the brow to see more skin throughout and to get the brow to appear more feathered." This, she explains, makes eyebrows easier to brush upward. But sadly, most threading or waxing technicians—even most makeup artists—know very little about how to design your brows uniquely for YOU.

Can You See The Northern Lights From A Cruise Ship? The Best Cruises for Viewing the Northern Lights

norway northern lights cruise

Read on for our comprehensive guide on how to choose the best northern lights cruise for you. When going on a winter or fall excursion above the Arctic circle, we always recommend dressing according to the season and in layers so you can adjust your clothing to the weather conditions. If you need an extra layer when out on one of our tours, we can offer you a winter overall suit. Increase your chances of seeing the Northern Lights or aurora borealis on a small ship expedition cruise that takes you deep into the Arctic, to iconic destinations such as Greenland, Iceland and Norway. You can also explore charming coastal cities like Ålesund on your own during port calls or simply relax and enjoy the comfortable amenities on board your cruise ship. Chase the northern lights on a tour in other arctic destinations, including northern Scandinavia, Iceland and Greenland.

Subscribe to our emails to be the first to know about special offers & new itineraries

On many cruises, when passengers or crew spot northern lights, they make ship-wide announcements. Because the northern lights often appear late at night or very early in the morning, some ships offer opt-in wake up calls for this purpose. Onshore activities for cruisers might range from museum and science center visits to dogsledding with huskies, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice-fishing, and scenic helicopter rides.

As you go straight through the Auroral Oval Zone you will find the prime spots to spot the lights should they appear. Cross the Arctic Circle, with arrival in the beautifully located town of Bodø.

Some venture to the Svalbard Archipelago, where the Gulf Stream flows prevent the seas from freezing in winter. The conditions must be just right, but it's highly likely to see this magical and sometimes elusive scientific phenomenon on a Northern Lights cruise sailing the Arctic Circle during the long, dark winter nights. On board our new coastal cruise ships, the emphasis is on providing passengers with spacious cabins. Our cabins are intended to be pleasant places to relax during the day and sleep well at night.

The best views

Both take place in the late summer into early fall, as darkness returns to the skies in the Arctic. Rates for the eight-day itinerary start from $4,600 per person for the 2023 sailings. (Although some sailings operate in reverse.) The Norwegian fjords themselves are a sight to behold — and if they're paired with the northern lights, that's all the better! The sailings run from January to March when daylight is limited in the Arctic Circle, making for prime aurora opportunities. Rates start from $4,999 per person in 2023, and it should be noted that Viking is an adults-only cruise line.

We have been in business for more than 20 years, offering tours based on our goal of sustainable tourism. Time to visit the town on your own before the ship continues across the Vestfjord to the Lofoten Islands, where you will join the exciting Viking feast excursion. Relax in the knowledge that our unmatchable Northern Lights Promise means you’ll get another chance to see the aurora if they don’t make an appearance on your voyage of 11 days or more (T&Cs apply).

Sailing here since 1893, we’re the experts, showing you both its highlights and its hidden gems. The mesmerising and otherworldly spectacle of the aurora borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, has captivated humanity for centuries. For KrisTina Kramer, few things in life give her as much of a thrill as sailing with us along the Norwegian coast, chasing the Northern Lights. It was very easy to book via Nordic Visitor, the website is easy to use and communication with my appointed rep was excellent.

Norway And Northern Lights, 12 nights, Nov 1 2024

The sun does not appear above the horizon in Tromso & Kirkenes from late November to mid January, but it is not dark all day. You can experience the magic, blue Arctic twilight during the day time, while the spectacular Northern Lights may show at the dark sky in the evening. Our trips are based on our goal of sustainable tourism, with eco-friendly travel that leaves as small an environmental footprint on nature as possible. Aside from volcanoes, glaciers and geysers, one of the main reasons people have Iceland on their travel bucket list is because they dream of seeing the Northern Lights on display. Iceland is a sparsely populated country, so you don’t have to go far to get away from light pollution.

In fact, the world’s first Northern Lights observatory was built here in 1899 on Mount Haldde, 900m above sea level. Find out more about the observatory at the Alta Museum or gaze at the marvellous Northern Lights Cathedral, a striking architectural project that functions as Alta’s parish church. Visit the cathedral on a short excursion that also covers some of Alta’s other key sights along the way. Spending the night at sea means you are able to reach the whale location before anyone else. Maximise your time with these gracious creatures, enjoy amazing up-close encounters and create memories that will last you a lifetime. Book safely with Fjord Travel Norway – a local, Norwegian travel company.

If you don’t see the Aurora, you will get a voucher for a free second chance on our next available Northern Lights cruise. The reason Tromso is one of the best places to see the Northern Lights is due to its location in the heart of the Aurora Zone in the Norwegian Arctic. On a clear night in this city, you won’t have to travel far to see the Aurora Borealis. If you are looking for some of the best cruises to see the lights, Tromso has some great options for you. In Norway the Northern Lights season lasts approximately from mid-September to mid-March.

Ice crampons may come in handy, especially in ports where walkways may be icy or slick. On some active excursions, outfitters provide weather appropriate gear, but you can’t always count on that. And don’t forget your bathing suit for outdoor tub soaks and pool swims onboard. Svalbard Found roughly halfway between the top of Norway and the North Pole, the Svalbard islands are a spectacular place to visit. The geographical setting means that you might even see the Northern Lights in the daytime here during the “polar night” period in winter months, when there’s little or no daylight. And make sure you experience Svalbard to the full through its other activities.

The typical Nordic décor reflects the landscape through which you will be sailing. The fjords here are awe-inspiring, and opportunities for outdoor activities are plentiful (hiking, skiing and even surfing are all popular here). Animal lovers will also be excited to spot local sea eagles and puffins on a cruise through nearby Trollfjord. Enrichment is an important component of our expeditions – we hope that you will leave changed and become lifelong ambassadors for the natural world and the wild, important destinations we visit. Your world-class Expedition Team will be on hand to answer your questions about the aurora borealis and how it comes to appear in the night sky, Arctic wildlife, geological formations and the history of the places we visit. By night you will seek out the Northern Lights, but by day we will try to get you off the ship 2-3 times per day (depending on the weather and conditions) so you can get the most out of your time in the Arctic.

There are so many treasures awaiting discovery in this magical region. Let us introduce you to the mysteries of the aurora borealis, the beautiful Lofoten Islands, and how our on board spa services take inspiration from the ocean itself. Charming and postcard pretty, Stavanger is an idyllic coastal town, famous for its perfectly preserved wooden buildings (some dating back to the 18th century) and miles of pristine white sand. On the outside decks you can enjoy an unobstructed view of the night sky, while listening to the knowledgeable English-speaking guide tell you all you need to know about the Northern Lights.

For the first time, we sail to or from the capital Oslo, journeying between Norway’s southernmost point and its northernmost. Trondheim is beautifully located by the wide Trondheimsfjord in mid-Norway, with the tiny, historic Munkholmen island, authentic areas with wooden houses and a relaxing & friendly atmosphere. After the Viking feast, served with home-brewed mead, you will travel by bus to Svolvær where you will rejoin the ship. Being at sea avoids the air pollution and the ambient light on land, both of which can dull the colours and vibrancy of a Northern Lights spectacle. To help you, we asked photography experts for their tried and trusted tips on everything from how to photograph the Northern Lights from a ship to shooting the aurora with a smartphone. When you see the Northern Lights, it’s only natural to want to capture the spectacle.

What Countries Do You Visit On a Northern Lights Cruise?

Connect with the Inuit people and gaining an appreciation of their way of life in East Greenland’s most northern coastal community filled with colourful houses. Rugged Ella Oya ( Ella Island ) overlooks icy seas filled with pristine blue icebergs. Nature’s own light show – are solar winds that meet the atmosphere in a zone around the magnetic North Pole. All the cabins and suites on our ships have an ‘Northern Lights alert’ which will tell you whenever we spot sightings of the aurora, so you can rush to your window or outside to catch them. Where we sail on the Norwegian coast is directly beneath the Auroral Zone, an area of consistent and heightened Northern Lights activity. Norway’s wild and dramatic coastline is made for adventure all year round.

Northern Lights Cruise with 2nd Chance Guarantee

Exploring the polar regions provides you with opportunities like no other. The Aurora Borealis originates on the sun’s surface with a massive explosion of electromagnetic matter, which projects a stream of charged particles known as solar wind into space. These strange green, red, and purple lights dancing across the night skies have inspired some of the most captivating stories on Earth. In return, they told us all about solar activity and magnetic fields, and explained the different types of auroras, and why they come in different colors. Relax in the knowledge that our unmatchable Northern Lights Promise means you’ll get another chance to see the aurora if they don’t make an appearance on your voyage of 11 days or more. Traveling to different parts of the Norwegian coast on the ship increases your chances of seeing the aurora not just once but multiple times.

Quick facts about Hurtigruten & Havila

Experience an amazing array of natural wonders in winter on a Havila or Hurtigruten northern lights cruise in Norway arranged by the Norwegian travel experts at Nordic Visitor. With the short winter daylight hours and the wide open, starlit skies over the ocean, wintertime astronomy voyages in Norway offer a wonderful chance to see the northern lights as your ship sails gently into the night. Hurtigruten is something of an outlier in this group because it doesn't offer specific northern lights itineraries. But the routes of this coastal ferry company in Norway just happen to traverse the perfect latitudes to see the aurora. For the best odds of seeing the northern lights, we suggest the 12-day round-trip itinerary from Bergen up the coast of Norway and back. Generally, skies are clearest near the spring and fall equinoxes in later September and March.

Experience a land where dawn and twilight merge on the edges of the long Arctic night.

Aurora Expeditions: Northern Lights Explorer

This period, from late September to early April, offers extended darkness and clearer skies, enhancing the visibility of the Aurora Borealis. The absence of sunlight allows passengers to fully immerse themselves in the captivating light displays against the Arctic or sub-Arctic landscapes. Aurora Expeditions carefully schedules these voyages to coincide with peak Northern Lights activity, ensuring passengers have the best chances of experiencing this celestial spectacle in its full splendour.

If you don't have two or three weeks to take off work to go northern lights watching, consider Oceanwide Expeditions' eight-day aurora borealis sailings from Iceland to Greenland and back. The adventure begins in Akureyri, the unofficial capital of north Iceland, before heading for Greenland's breathtaking Scoresby Sund, the largest fjord system in the world. If you do have a little more time, you can opt for the 13-day Spitsbergen - Northeast Greenland - Aurora Borealis itinerary, which embarks in the Svalbard archipelago before sailing to Greenland and down to Iceland.

Passengers can opt-in for overnight wake-up calls, so they can get some sleep without worrying about missing a Northern Lights sighting. Vesterålen This archipelago is a peaceful, beautiful region to discover and it also offers great viewing conditions for those colourful skies. Join a Northern Lights safari for the best chance of seeing the magic, but even if you don’t, you won’t mind too much. Because Vesterålen is also a fantastic place to go whale watching at any time of year. It’s something of an artistic hub too, thanks to outdoor sculptures that form part of the Artscape Nordland project and a variety of modern art galleries.

But photographing their elusive beauty isn’t as simple as point-and-shoot. Long before we understood the science behind the aurora, the Northern Lights were wrapped up in myths and legends that still fuel our imaginations today. They also said that a deeper understanding of the science only adds to the magic of the experience of seeing the Northern Lights. Being at sea avoids the air pollution and the ambient light on land, both of which can dull the colors and vibrancy of a Northern Lights spectacle. Nordic Visitor works only with licensed, reputable travel partners that meet our high standards.

My mom and I planned to take the Eze & Menton tour through Carnival. At $49.99 per person, we thought it was a good deal, and a great way to visit some of the smaller hilltowns since we'd been to Monaco and Nice before. We had "your time dining" and required a table for 5. I felt the ship was very very large, and could easily accommodate all of the passengers without feeling too crowded and busy. I'm pretty claustrophobic and hate crowds, so I was pretty aware of this. However, due to the downpour, our taxi took an extra hour, so we had quite a wait when we arrived at the terminal.

Port Canaveral (Orlando), FL

On board, refined service, a unique atmosphere and activities for everyone (sport, swimming pool, relaxation, discovery). Last but not least, Carnival Radiance is heating things up with more sailings to the tropical paradise of Hawaii. Sun, sand and surf await you on this cruise through the Pacific Ocean to the Aloha State. If you’re up for a longer voyage, Carnival Panorama has itineraries for you with transpacific trips that’ll have you crossing the ocean like a true explorer. We're not doing a Med cruise - we're booked on Legend for a Baltic cruise this summer - but I'm really enjoying your review. I booked a tour of the Penedes Wine Region through Viator.

I've only traveled with them once prior, and it was a winery tour of the Yarra Valley in Australia. I had such a great experience, I thought I'd give it another try. I definitely recommend doing a walking tour of this market. You don't need a guide or anything - just set aside an hour or two to wander through it. There are a couple of small bars within the market where you can order coffee, wine and small snacks in case you get hungry.

See it all from Barcelona.

There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data. All in all, we were pleased with the food and the food quality, and the service just improved from there on out... This was the first cruise for our assistant waiter though, so I didn't want to complain and get him in trouble. You could see they were still figuring out how to work as a team.

This is the first time I've ever tried writing a review or uploading photos to CruiseCritic... Cruises are a wonderful, worry-free way to explore the great cities of Europe. About three-quarters of all European cruises are Mediterranean cruises, and the other one-fourth are cruises of the British Isles and Northern Europe. This website is using a security service to protect itself from online attacks. The action you just performed triggered the security solution.

Carnival's newest additions, Carnival Celebration, Carnival Luminosa, and Carnival Venezia each bring their own twist to cruising. I rarely take cruiseline excursions, but we did two on this trip. The lines to get into the theater were pretty nuts, and it was very chaotic waiting to get out. My initial reaction to the Breeze was that it was very very nice!

I actually always enjoyed the garish designs of Farcus on previous Carnival ships, but this had a "classy" feel to it. I know you're probably anxious to see the ship and hear about the actual cruise, but I wanted to share one last thing we did in Barcelona prior to boarding our ship... Much like the vikings, Carnival Pride is taking a detour to Greenland. Get ready to explore the land of icebergs, Norsemen and the Northern Lights in more epic ways than ever before. The Lido/buffet area was much nicer than any other Carnival ship I have been on.
